The aim of this presentation was to provide information technology and business managers with a high-level introduction to the “Business Case” for information technology projects.
Project Business Case development and preparation phases are introduced and described briefly. An illustrative “before” and “after” Business Case example was included to ensure relevance to the audience. The example is a Point of Sale (POS) technology upgrade recommended by the organization’s IT department. Highlights of the “unsuccessful” version of the case are revealed to the audience early in the presentation. Then, the audience is shown how the CIO transformed the case into a successful case. The audience was invited to “interact” with this example at multiple points as the case-building process was introduced and the example was strengthened.
This presentation is for anyone involved in information technology project proposals, justifications, or investment decision making.
