Issue: The purpose of writing IT proposals is to provide management with a comprehensive evaluation of a significant issue for their decision, including (1) what needs to be done and why, (2) when it needs to be done and how, (3) who is going to do the work, (4) how much will it cost, and (5) the alternatives and risks.
Purpose: Proposals are never easy to write; short deadlines and information thats difficult to get are challenges for even the most experienced professional. Those who have never written a proposal face the same challenges; and more. This primer provides a broad overview; it does not contain detailed step-by-step instructions.
Objective: Our intent is to give you a basic understanding of what to expect, how to get started, the information proposals typically contain, and how the process works. This will help jump-start the first time writers proposal, and avoid some common pitfalls along the way.
