Deregulation, mergers and acquisitions are all having a major impact on the telecommunications industry in terms of IT. IT departments have to always be on their feet, constantly pushing out new products and services to remain competitive. They are the money makers. They provide not only support for their companies, but must also focus on creating new revenue streams. As a result, more IT departments are getting larger and so are their budgets.
