The largest hotel and restaurant chains are turning to IT initiatives such as data warehouses, object-oriented middleware, computer-based training systems, and the Internet to improve customer service and refine their operations. Hotel chains are learning how to leverage the Internet. Years ago, you would have to call each hotel to check for room available. These days, you can sign on to the Internet and get a list of hotels with available rooms and their rates.
